Method 3
At a Store
Ask a cashier to run a balance inquiry on the card before checking out.
Method 1 — Check balance online
🌐 Online via Giftcards.com
- Open your browser and go to giftcards.com (the official site that replaced GiftCardMall)
- Click on "Manage Card" or "Check Balance" in the navigation
- Enter your 16-digit card number, expiration date, and CVV
- Your current balance and recent transaction history will be displayed
💡 If you've registered your card, log into your account to see a full transaction history and statement — useful for tracking exactly where you spent your card balance.
Method 2 — Check balance by phone
📞 Call customer service
- Call 1-833-800-0550 — available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week
- Select the balance inquiry option from the automated menu
- Enter your card number using your phone keypad
- Your balance will be read out automatically — no waiting for an agent needed
💡 The phone number on the back of your card also works. Both lines connect to the same Blackhawk Network customer service system.
Method 3 — Check at a store
🏪 In-store balance inquiry
- Visit any store that accepts Visa or Mastercard (depending on your card type)
- Hand your card to the cashier and ask them to run a balance inquiry
- Many point-of-sale systems can display the remaining balance before completing a transaction
- Alternatively, make a small purchase — the receipt will usually show your remaining balance
💡 This method doesn't require internet access and is useful if you're already at a store and want to know if you have enough to cover your purchase.
Balance check tips
- Check before shopping online — some merchants put temporary authorization holds that can confuse your available balance.
- Gas stations and hotels often hold $50–$100 more than your actual purchase for authorization — your real balance comes back within a few days.
- Split payments — if your card doesn't have enough to cover a full purchase, ask the merchant if you can pay part with the gift card and the rest with another card.
- Register your card — once registered at giftcards.com, you can see a full transaction history online at any time.
